From the Principal's Desk
As our student numbers exceeded 1600 at the start of the year the Department of Education and Training has responded to our request for support and appointed a 3rd Deputy Principal. Until the school panel can carry out the process of selection I have requested Mr Meyers (Head Teacher Science) and Mr Rogers (Head Teacher History) to share the duties.

Westfields Sports is further developing its policy of bringing senior experienced teachers to the school on a part-time basis to cater to the needs of students who wish to excel academically. Students in Years 12, 11 and 10 who wish to access this support should discuss their needs with Mr Meyer (Science) and Mr Freer (English). Along with the Head Teacher Teaching and Learning, Mr Clements I spoke to the 2005 Year 11 high achievers about supporting their academic goals for the 2006 HSC and University. There was a very positive response from the students. Please encourage your children to apply for scholarships, traineeships and cadetships.

To support the introduction of new annual school reporting requirements, all primary, secondary and central/community schools have been allocated to one of ten Like School Groups. Like School Groups averages provide a useful frame of reference against which schools can compare their students’ results. Schools have been allocated to LSGs on the basis of (a) the average socio-economic status (SES) of their parent community, and (b) their geographical isolation Analyses of results in statewide testing programs indicate that these are the two community-level factors that have the greatest impact on academic outcomes. Together, they account for nearly half of the variation in outcomes across New South Wales government schools. The remaining half of the variation can be attributed to school level factors.

Westfields Sports is compared to 70 other schools. It is apparent from the table below that there is a very positive Westfields Factor
