From the Principal's Desk
Westfields was very proud to host former student and Socceroo, Harry Kewell, Federal Health Minister Tony Abbott
and celebrity chef Luke Mangan to launch the Health Lifestyle project on Thursday 26th October. Football students were
rewarded for their talented display with a healthy breakfast prepared by Luke, Harry and Minister Abbott. While the
Minister had a special focus on health reducing obesity, Harry was able to talk with junior football students and pass
on some tips on how to be successful at the elite level. Our guests were highly impressed with all athletes going through
their regular Thursday training: Rugby League, Rugby Union, Track & Field, Cricket and Tennis. Special thanks to staff
and students who assisted with the day from 5:00 am.
The week concluded with a two-day visit of 600 students and staff from Kasukabe High School in Japan. We have enjoyed this
annual exchange since 1997, where our schools share sports, dancing and a BBQ lunch. Thanks to Mr Traslavina for
coordinating these days.
