Who said 4 was an unlucky number?
The Westfields Sports Boys Softball team recently defeated Camden High 10-9 in the NSWCHS knockout to claim their 4th consecutive state
Despite the average age of the boys being 15 they outperformed all their competitors with spectacular batting, fielding and pitching.
In the QF the boys beat last yearís runners up Hunter Sports H.S 13-9. Matthew Quinn and Steven Evic both hit gigantic
In the SF, the boys continued their winning ways with an emphatic 11-5 victory, with Mason Rossi responsible for 3 of those 11 runs.
A mention must also be made of the massive home run over left field by Jayden Lach. The final was a very closely contested contest,
with our traditional rivals Camden High providing fierce competition. However,
fast & accurate pitching by our Year 9 stars Jacob Stek
and Hayden Mathews saw the boys claim victory in a thrilling tie-breaker.
Lastly, I would like to acknowledge the efforts of our Year 12 boys. Our wonderful captain Matthew Attard and NSW U/19ís star
Steven Evic played their last game for the school in Newcastle. I would like to wish them all the best in their future and
acknowledge the contribution they have made to the development of their younger teammates.
