Westfields Soccer Champions

IT'S a spur-of-the-moment decision that West- fields Sports student Devante Clut hopes will establish his football career.
Clut, 16, set off on a well-earned but unshed- uled European holiday in December.
There were no football plans, other than spending a week at a small academy group to play some games and train.
But things changed. While at the academy, the squad had a training session with Stoke City. An actual Premier League team? Yes. And they were impressed. So impressed they asked the attacking midfielder to continue training with the club and they even offered him a contract.
Sadly, Clut is not older enough for a working visa nor does he have a European passport. So he had to let the opportunity pass this time. Clut, who is captain of the under-18s Parramatta FC team and Central Coast Mariners youth program, said the month long journey was memorableand he was looking forward to returning soon to emulate some of his hereos like Lionel Messi. A key member of Westfields Sports championship- winning teams in recent years, The Green Valley resident and Smithfield Junior has represented NSW in indoor and outdoor football.
