Well-rounded footballer Damien Travis is a Junior Sports Star nominee.
SMITHFIELD footballer Damien Travis is a young man of action.
The Fairfield Advance Junior Sports Star nominee, 15, plays an integral part in Marconi's under-16s Premier Youth team, due
in no small part to his well-rounded approach to the game.
The Westfields Sports High School student can play fluently with both feet, which has made him something of a "Mr Fix It" in
Marconi coach Rick Chiellini's plans.
"Because of his versatility, I can play Damien almost anywhere," Chiellini said.
"That combined with his speed, tenacity, work rate and willingness to listen makes him one of our most valued players.
"I can definitely see Damien going a lot further."
Travis has aspirations to move up the ranks of Marconi and reach their premier league side and beyond.
And with his ability to adapt to different positions on the park, the sky's the limit.
"Harry Kewell is definitely one of my idols," Travis said.
"I met him when he came out to Westfields Sports two
years ago. He's a really nice guy."
With thanks
