Meet Our Athletes Joven Clarke                National Medallist

Juggling a Rugby League career with the eyes of every talent scout in Australia on him, Joven had his best ever season in Track & Field.
Joven clearly asserted his dominance as the number one under 18 years sprinter in the country. His silver medal performance in the 2000 Pacific School Games was the proof, and it was only the South African runner that just pipped him on the finish line.
Joven won all the State Schools titles in 1999 over 100 metres, and Silver in both the 100m and 200m at the Australian All Schools.
Football commitments prevented him contesting the NSW Championships, but Joven took time out to run the National Junior Championships, albeit full of lactic acid from football training.

Joven Clarke

Those of us who remember Joven in year 7 can still picture a tiny boy with a big heart. The only thing that has changed; `tiny' has become compact, and now the big heart is bigger than ever.
As the finest ever sprinter to be developed by the Westfields Athletics Program and one of WAC's loyalist athletes, Joven has just about achieved everything possible as a 17 year old domestically. With his football career about to accelerate rapidly, we hope that Joven will one day find the time to give his athletics career his full attention and find out just how fast he can go on the track. At the time of writing, Joven has already been selected in the NSW under 18 State of Origin team. We wish Joven all the best with his sport. We're ready whenever you are Joey!!

UPDATE 7th July: Joven has won selection to the Australian Open Schoolboy Rugby League Team to play 2 tests against New Zealand in Brisbane on Sunday 10th & Wednesday 13th September. Congratulations Joven.

2001 - Update Joven Clarke was awarded the highest honor in NSW Combined High Schools sport, when he received the Athletics Blue award and the Presidents award. Joven had represented Australian Schools in both Athletics and Rugby League during 2000. Along with Scott Burriss, he became the first WAC athlete ever to win the CHS Blue in athletics.

Concentrating mainly on his football career (under contract to Parramatta RL), Joven still found some time to train in the sprints. His 2000 season was absolutely perfect. He won the Silver medal at the 2000 Pacific Games for the 100m, recording the fastest time by an 18 year old all year until being relegated to the number 2 spot by one hundredth of a second at the Australian All Schools where he took the Silver again. It took the 2000 Stawell Gift winner ($50,000.00 prize money winner) to beat him. An exceptional talent! Joven was invited to train as a National Junior relay squad member for the 2002 World juniors, but his football commitments have temporarily prevented this.

2002 - Update Joven was signed to South Sydney Rabbitohs till the end of the 2004 season, he made his debut in the NRL. At the presentation evening Joven was awarded the 2002 Supporters Award 1st Division "Player of the Year" also 2002 "Most Exciting First Grade Debut.
